What is a Police Verification Report?
A ‘Police Verification Report’ is a report on the character
and antecedents of an individual. The report states whether or not the individual
has come to any adverse notice due to his general conduct. It is specifically
verified whether or not he/she has been involved in any criminal case and
if there is any criminal case pending against him/her in the court of law
as per district police records. Efforts are also made to get a similar report
from his/her place of permanent residence. It is also verified whether the
individual is indeed the person whose photograph has been affixed on the
PVR application form.
Who needs a PVR?
A PVR is typically sought by private employers for their potential employees
before finalizing their appointment. It is also sought by landlords for
their potential tenants before letting their premises to them.
Who can issue the PVR?
The District Superintendent of Police of the district where the individual
is residing issues the PVR.
How to apply for the PVR?
To apply for a Police Verification Report, the applicant is required to
fill an application form that is available free of cost at the Security
Branch, District Police Office, Police Lines Ambala City. The duly filled-in
application form has to be submitted alongwith the necessary documents
and the application fee.
Application Fee
An all-inclusive fee of Rs.100/- has to be deposited with Incharge Security
Branch against proper receipt. A copy of this receipt must be attached
with the application form.
Documents
The following documents must be attached alongwith the application form:
- Copy of any of the following documents as proof of identity and of residence
of the individual whose verification has been sought.
- Ration Card
- Election Commission Voter Identity Card
- Water, Electricity Bills, Telephone bills
- Running Bank Account (Last one year)
- Passport
- Two copies of latest passport size photograph of the individual whose
verification has been sought. This is in addition to one affixed on the
application form.
